Section A - Distance 2 km. Grade 1, Easy

Havelock / Motuweka, around Kaituna Estuary, to the beginning of Mahakipawa Hill

The pathway starts in Havelock at Inglis Street, adjacent to the entrance to the Marina, and the Holiday Park. A flat pathway runs behind the port industrial area, climbing gently to beside the road that leads to the entrance to Havelock Cemetery, and then descending gently to the edge of the Kaituna Estuary. A side path to the east leads out to the marina mole. The Link Pathway skirts the edge of the estuary along several curved and arched boardwalks, before running adjacent to the Queen Charlotte Drive and the Havelock Causeway. The Kaituna River is crossed on the road bridge, before the road is crossed, at the start of the Mahakipawa Hill Section. A side track to the north continues to skirt the Kaituna Estuary.
