Section G - Distance 5.5 km. Grade 3, Intermediate

Ngakuta Bay to Wedge Point

Mount Tapuae-O-Ueneku can be seen on a clear day

This is the longest section of the Link Pathway between road-ends, and traverses through some nice areas of mature native bush. It is also the highest section of pathway, with a high point of 230 metres above sea level.

To the east of Ngakuta, the pathway crosses the road (after a short section along the footpath heading west) and climbs steeply in a series of zig-zags until the historic bridle path is reached, which is then followed for the majority of this section.

After about 1 km the Little Ngakuta Stream is crossed, and the pathway continues to climb to above Governors Bay. A side track leads down the ridge to the Governors Bay car-park, and access to the Governors Bay Beach. 100 metres further along the Link Pathway is a lookout site and seats, with expansive views of the Grove Arm, and the inner Queen Charlotte Sound.

The pathway then is reasonably flat and meanders through mature native bush for 2 kms, before climbing gently to the highest point on the Link Pathway, after which it descends gently for a further 2kms. Before the final descent to where the road is crossed, there is a lookout site and seat that overlooks Shakespeare Bay and parts of Picton Harbour. To the south, Mount Tapuae-O-Ueneku can be seen on a clear day.
